When most people visit lower Cherrybrook Bridge on Dartmoor they take photographs of the bridge and the Dartmoor ponies that love the visitors and are always happy to pose. I preferred the view away from the bridge showing the vast moors and the brook running through it. The day I took the reference photographs was gin clear, not a cloud in sight, and the water mirror still. I decided to use my memory of days on the moor to create this atmospheric scene.
The painting is currently being displayed at Stone Lane Gardens, Chagford, Dartmoor.
